The community is invited to join the annual festive celebrations at the 2024 Christmas Festival and Pageant on Saturday, December 7.
Held in Albany Town Square and Alison Hartman Gardens from 3pm to 8pm, this year’s event promises even more magic with the addition of an artificial ice rink.
The festival will also mark the official launch of the Holiday Hunt, a children’s Christmas-themed treasure hunt running until December 21.
The Holiday Hunt takes children on a treasure hunt through local businesses in search of 10 hidden festive decals with a prize pack available from Albany Town Hall after completion.
Christmas markets in Alison Hartman Gardens will offer an array of gifts and festive treats from 3pm and Santa’s photobooth, in partnership with Ace Camera Club, will be open from 3pm to 5pm.
The Snow Zone returns with snow flurries at 15-minute intervals from 3pm to 6pm underneath the Albany Public Library balcony. The Town Square Stage will host performances by artists such as About FACE Choir, with roving entertainers, art activities, cookie decorating and face painting to keep families entertained.
The magic truly comes alive at 6pm, when the Christmas Pageant brings York Street to life with a parade of floats decked out in holiday cheer.
The ice rink is also sure to be a hit and is recommended for children aged 5 to 16 years and will be open during the festival from 3pm to 8pm. The rink will also be open from December 8 to 12 from 10am to 5pm daily in Albany Town Square on a first-come, first-served basis.
Manager Community Relations Elise van Gorp said the festival was a wonderful way for the community to come together and celebrate Christmas.
“Christmas is a magical time of year and it’s wonderful to see the community embrace the festivities,” Ms van Gorp said.
“We’re looking forward to seeing everyone get involved in the festivities, whether they’re enjoying the pageant, trying the ice rink, or exploring the Holiday Hunt.”
