The City of Albany is supportive of the screen industry however; it also recognises that location filming requires a balance between the interests of our local community and the need of the screen industry to share public space for film production.

Film Friendly Guidelines

The City Film Friendly Guidelines outline how the City manages requests to deliver these activities, the support that may be available and how consistent and transparent decisions will be made. The scope of this guideline does not include provision of grants or sponsorship.

The City of Albany would like to;

  • Encourage the use of Albany as a location to capture and produce feature film and television content.
  • Provide opportunities for local businesses to leverage opportunities linked to the film industry.
  • Support film production initiatives that contribute to economic development outcomes linked to the City’s economic development strategy or destination marketing strategic plan.
  • Provide clear guidance in relation to the consistent and transparent management of film related requests for support.

Regional Filming Application Form

Filmmakers who wish to undertake any filming within a City of Albany public open space must complete the Regional Filming Application Form and obtain approval.

We encourage you to contact us at the earliest time before applying on (08) 6820 3035 or email [email protected] to discuss the proposed filming activation. Our Film Friendly Liaison Officer can advise on best practice and guidance on who you need to notify, as well as any additional requirement.

Do you have a property that you think would be film worthy?

Have you considered using your home, land, office building, warehouse restaurant, bar, hotel or other locations to be utilised as a filming location? Films, television shows, commercials, music videos and still photo shoots are always looking for the perfect location for their production, so if you think you have the perfect scenic, picturesque, quirky and/ or distinct location REGISTER WITH US NOW via the form below and your property will be added to Screenwest’s register of film locations in the Albany region.

Please note, Inclusion of a property in the Screenwest location library places the owner under no obligation whatsoever to accept the proposed film shoot onto the premises. Each project is individually assessed in terms of its budget, schedule and the scenes to be filmed. It is up to you to decide if you want to allow that particular production to use your property. Please note not all properties will be listed within the Screenwest location library. Screenwest reserves the right to omit images and listings of property at its discretion.
