Reusable Nappy Incentive Trial
Great news - our Reusable Nappy Incentive Trial has been extended until further notice!
On average, a child can use around 4,000 nappies before they are toilet trained. Millions of disposable nappies end up in landfill in Australia every day, and it is estimated that they take between 150 and 500 years to break down.
Modern reusable cloth nappies provide a range of options to not only prevent pollution, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and divert large amounts of waste from landfill, but also save individuals and families a lot of money in the longer term.
That's why the City of Albany is offering residents a rebate of 50% (up to $100 per household) on the purchase of reusable cloth nappies to encourage families to try them as an alternative to disposables. The rebate scheme will run as a trial from November 2021 until further notice.
We understand that individual and family circumstances differ and that committing to reusable nappies may not be viable for everyone, but we hope that this trial program will help families and individuals to consider making the switch.
See details below for how you can access the rebate!
How does it work?
From November 2021, the City of Albany is offering a trial incentive program for reusable cloth nappies to residents.
As part of this program, a 50% rebate is available on eligible items, with a maximum rebate of $100 per household, subject to approval.
Valid purchased eligible for a rebate must have been made on or after 19 November 2021. The rebate will not cover the cost of postage or delivery of eligible products with these costs excluded from the calculated rebate amount.
The rebate scheme will continue until further notice.
Which items can I claim?
You can purchase reusable cloth nappies through an Australian supplier (with an ABN). Specific items eligible for the rebate are:
- All-in-ones
- Two-in-ones
- Reusable swim nappies
- Terry/pre-fold nappies
- Nappy liners, boosters and inserts if purchased with cloth nappies
Only these items will be considered for this rebate. Accessories, for example: wipes and wet bags, are not included. Postage costs are also not included.
How many items can I claim?
You can claim any and all eligible products that are on the eligible items list and that have been purchased on or after 19 November 2021. The rebate amount is 50% of the purchase price and is capped at a maximum of $100 per household. For example, if you purchase items to the value of $100, your household can claim a $50 rebate. Or if you purchase items to the value of $250, you can claim a $100 rebate. Rebates are subject to approval.
