Bulk Waste Collection
The City of Albany’s Bulk Waste Collection is a convenient service facilitated by our waste contractor to help residents dispose of large volumes of waste.
A Bulk Green Waste Collection and Bulk Hard Waste Collection will run from 26 May - 27 June 2025. Dates for each zone are available below.
Waste Collection Zones

ZONE 1 (commencing Monday, 26 May 2025)
McKail, Orana, Milpara, Warrenup, Willyung, King River, Millbrook.
ZONE 2 (commencing Monday, 2 June 2025)
Bayonet Head, Lower King, Walmsley, Kalgan*.
ZONE 3 (commencing Monday, 9 June 2025)
Centennial Park, Yakamia, Spencer Park, Collingwood Heights, Collingwood Park, Lange, Mira Mar, Middleton Beach (nth of Middleton Rd), Seppings, Emu Point.
ZONE 4 (commencing Monday, 16 June 2025)
Central Albany, Port Albany, Mt Clarence, Mt Melville, Middleton Beach (sth of Middleton Rd), Gledhow, Lockyer, Marbelup*, Cuthbert*, Elleker*.
ZONE 5 (commencing Monday, 23 June 2025)
Mt Elphinstone, Robinson, Little Grove, Big Grove, Goode Beach.
*only for residents with a kerbside waste and recycling collection.

These items will be accepted for Bulk Green Waste Collection:
- Tree and shrub prunings up to 1.5m in length/ 25cm in diameter
- Please note: street trees must only be pruned by City of Albany staff
These items will be accepted for Bulk Hard Waste Collection:
- White goods and scrap metal
- E-waste (computer, printers, TVs) and electrical appliances
- Mattresses (maximum 2)
- Other bulk general waste items
These items will not be accepted for collection:
- Cement, bricks or building rubble - accepted at Hanrahan Road Waste Facility (fees apply or use your Waste Pass)
- Hazardous waste including batteries, paint, chemicals and gas bottles - household quantities accepted at Fossicker's Tip Shop (no fee)
- Asbestos or fibre cement products - accepted at Hanrahan Road Waste Facility (fees apply, please call ahead for requirements)
- Food or domestic rubbish - please use your kerbside bins or bring excess to Hanrahan Road Waste Facility (fees apply or use your Waste Pass)
- Vehicle parts, tyres, batteries and oils - accepted at Hanrahan Road Waste Facility (fees apply to some items - no car bodies accepted)

Until the bulk waste collection, there are other options to dispose of unwanted bulky items which include:
Fossicker’s Tip Shop (at the entrance to Hanrahan Road Waste Facility) accepts items suitable for resale, recycling and disposal, including:

- Goods in reasonable condition for resale such as furniture, homewares, working electrical items, bicycles, clothing, books and toys, in addition to garden, renovation and outdoor products, for resale in Fossicker’s Shop. Please note, acceptance of items is at staff discretion and is dependent on quality of items as well as supply and demand.
- Items for recycling including mobile phones and accessories, batteries, ink cartridges, light globes and tubes, small gas bottles, televisions and computers, commingled recyclables (suitable for the yellow-top bin).
- Household hazardous waste can be deposited at no charge to residents, such as batteries, cleaning products, paint, smoke detectors.

Other options
Several local companies offer skip bins or collection services for bulk rubbish, recycling and green waste (fees apply).
