For the past 40 years Read Write Now Albany has been providing one on one tutoring for adults who want to improve their literacy skills in order to increase their employment opportunities or enable parents to read to their children.

The organisations dedication for helping adults to read and write is the reason they have won the 2021 Active Citizenship Award for a Community Group or Event.

Mayor of Albany Dennis Wellington congratulated the winners and the overwhelming group of passionate finalists for their contributions to the community.

“Each and every nominee has given an incredible amount of time, effort and passion to their niche sector of the community who would be lost without their support,” Mayor Wellington said.

“It is an honour to award all the winners this year with a token of appreciation for all the work they do selflessly within our fantastic community.”
