Albany will host the launch of Youth Week WA, the largest annual celebration of young people in Western Australia.

With a week-long program designed to engage and empower local youth, Youth Minister Hannah Beazley will visit Albany to open the festivities at the Winter Wonderland event on Friday, April 5.

The evening promises an immersive experience filled with youth-led activities including live music, dancing, and culinary delights all set against the enchanting winter wonderland theme.

Attendees can enjoy face painting, Southern Edge Arts’ acrobat performances, games, snow zone, and a specially curated photobooth with a backdrop designed by Albany Senior High School students.

Taking inspiration from the elements of the local Menang-Noongar wet seasons, the backdrop will be paired with decorations made by Albany Youth Support Association (AYSA) youth which highlight the physical experience of rain.

Albany Mayor Greg Stocks praised the collaboration between local organisations, businesses and youth groups in bringing Albany’s Youth Week to life.

“The City’s diverse program of activities for Youth Week is a testament to our commitment to celebrate our young people,” he said.

“I am immensely proud that our city has been chosen to launch this state-wide initiative, highlighting the talent, creativity, and potential of our youth.”

Youth Minister Hannah Beazley said she was excited to experience what Albany has to offer.

"The State Government is pleased to partner with the City of Albany to launch this year's Youth Week,” she said.

"It will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase the diverse talents of young people in regional parts of Western Australia.”

Albany’s Youth Week program also includes a diverse lineup of activities featuring a Game Night, Bazaarium Youth Markets, Inflata-Day, and a Pool Party.
