With the Maritime Festival’s G + B exhibition proving to be a huge success since its first instalment in 2022, the inspirations of green and blue return for another year.

Vancouver Arts Centre is hosting the exhibition from 12 to 27 July, featuring artists from across the Great Southern.

Expressions of interest for 2024 artwork submissions exceeded capacity in record time, with successfully submitted artwork taking influence from the colours of green and blue.

Nearly 50 artists have dedicated countless hours to crafting an impressive array of multimedia pieces exclusively for the Maritime Festival that enhance the festival with unique and captivating artistic expressions.

This year’s exhibition is curated by City of Albany Visual Arts Officer Indra Geidans who said it was exciting to showcase the exceptional talent and creativity of local artists.

“With a vibrant theme and a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, textiles, photography, and weaving, this year’s exhibition is another outstanding showcase of local talent,” she said.

“The exhibition is not only for the artists and the audience but also offers art lovers and collectors a fantastic opportunity to expand their collections.

“The G+B exhibition is a highly anticipated exhibition for the Great Southern art community, and the engaged audience that attends every year to celebrate and appreciate the region's diverse artistic talents.”

Entries into the G + B exhibition are eligible for two prizes – $1,000 for Best Overall Entry and $500 for the People’s Choice Award.

This year’s winner of the Best Overall Entry was Tracey Margetts for her work Amity and the Alchemy of Water while voting is now open for the People’s Choice Award.

The G + B exhibition is open to the public from 9am to 9pm Friday, 12 July until Saturday, 27 July.
