City seeks feedback on engagement strategy

Published on Wednesday, 22 May 2024 at 12:55:00 PM

The City of Albany is seeking community feedback on its updated Communications & Engagement Strategy, with a public comment period open until 31 May.

The 2024-2027 Strategy will replace the 2019-2022 version with updated objectives and priorities for communication and engagement with the community.

The 2019 Strategy provided invaluable insights into Albany residents' expectations from their local government, leading to enhanced communication and engagement processes. Five-years on and the City’s is seeking to chart a course for further improvement over the next three years.

Informed by established principles, the updated Strategy delineates specific engagement and communication methods, including target audiences, optimal timing, and preferred formats for City communications.

An outcome of the 2019 strategy was the establishment of a Communications and Engagement Advisory Group with community and elected representatives, with this group has playing a key part in the Strategy’s revision.

Executive Director Community Services Nathan Watson said the Communications & Engagement Strategy was an important tool in facilitating connections with residents.

“As a local government we need to be listening to our residents and keeping them informed and involved, which is why we've been dedicated to improving our efforts in ensuring awareness and participation in conversations and decisions for everyone,” he said.

“Effectively communicating, listening and engaging with our community means we maintain a strong relationship with our community and fulfil our purpose of delivering the services that support our community.”

Residents will have the opportunity to read and make comment on the City of Albany Communications & Engagement Strategy until 31 May via the City of Albany website.
