Death Cafe

What is a death café?
Deathcafe.com is a worldwide movement started in London in 2010 by Jon Underwood and Sue Barsky Reid, based on the ideas of Swiss Sociologist Bernard Crettaz.
The objective of the deathcafe.com movement is “to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives”.
Of course, cake, tea or coffee always helps the conversation flow!
Some rules for our death café
A death café is a discussion group, not a grief support group or counselling session.
To make this a safe space so that everyone benefits, please be mindful of the following:
- be respectful of other peoples’ points of view and experiences without judgement
- remember, discussions are confidential
- allow others time and space to make their comments
- pay attention to others sharing what may be painful or personal stories
- have your mobiles on silent
- please don’t lead other people to any conclusion or course of action.
