Sports clubs, volunteers and professional athletes will be able to tap into a wealth of industry knowledge and experience when the City of Albany hosts the first Great Southern Sports Forum next month.

The Forum will tackle pressing industry trends and challenges within sport and recreation, exploring the key themes of ‘Inspire’, ‘Innovate’, and ‘Connect’.

Hosted at Retravision Stadium on Friday, February 16, the Great Southern Sports Forum will set the tone for the future of sport and recreation throughout the region.

Attendees will hear from key speakers including game development expert Troy Kirkham, performance psychologist Jodii Maguire, digital marketing professional Alecia Hancock, critical thinking coach Bethan Winn, culture consultant Matt Angus, and leadership guru Ian Crawford.

Facilitated by emcee Mark Readings, the Forum will cover topics such as youth retention in community sports, building high-performing clubs, community activation through social media and the intricacies of the coach-athlete relationship.

Attendees will also be able to take part in a dynamic Q&A panel discussion featuring sport stars Nina Kennedy, Sophie MacDonald, and Declan Mountford.

This panel will be an engaging and interactive session delving into the personal journeys, challenges, and triumphs of these accomplished athletes.

Albany Mayor Greg Stocks said the Forum would have a transformative impact within the region.
