Traditional Anzac Day services will go ahead later this month with capacity limits and ticketed entry requirements in place for the safety of our community.
City of Albany has thrown its support behind Albany RSL once again to host the commemorations throughout the day.
This will include the Mt Clarence Dawn Service, Gunfire Breakfast, Anzac Day Troop March and Commemorative Service that honour the sacrifices of Australian and New Zealand military personnel.
City of Albany Mayor Dennis Wellington said it was encouraging to see the Anzac Day events proceed in spite of high Covid case numbers.
“Striking a balance between honouring those who have served for our country and keeping our community safe is a challenge,” he said.
“It certainly isn’t ideal but it isn’t impossible either. Our ability to host these commemorative services is something the City is grateful for.
“There are other alternative options available to watch the service such as a live simulcast online from the comfort of our homes, at the Anzac Peace Park or the Albany Entertainment Centre.”
The Dawn Service will be a free, restricted ticketed service at the Desert Mounted Corps Memorial. A bus service is included with each ticket and will run from the Albany Entertainment Centre between 4am and 5am.
A livestream of the Dawn Service will be held at Albany Entertainment Centre from 4:40am which will be a free ticketed event with a maximum capacity of 455 attendees. Alternatively, Anzac Peace Park will host a livestream of the service onto a large screen from 5am with no capacity limits.
Dawn Service tickets will be available from the National Anzac Centre website in two allocations. The first allocation will be on 12 April from 10am and the second allocation will be on 14 April from 10am.
Albany Entertainment Centre Live Simulcast tickets will be available from the Albany Entertainment Centre website in two allocations. The first allocation will be on 12 April from 10am and the second allocation will be on 14 April from 10am.
The National Anzac Centre website and Facebook page will also host the livestream.
