The Albany Colour Dash, presented by Act-Belong-Commit is back with a new venue, longer course and more obstacles.

The event will be held at North Albany Football Club on Sunday, February 25 from 2.30pm to 7pm.

Ticket sales have now closed, however there are still opportunities to volunteer at the event. Please contact the Senior Community Development Officer on 6820 3023 or email

This event is proudly supported by RioTinto, City of Albany and our presenting partner Healthway.

Why have ticket sales closed so many weeks out from the event?

We were advised by the suppliers for the event that we needed to allow three weeks from the date of order for the supplies to be shipped over to Albany (the joys of living in regional WA). We extended tickets as long as we could, but we wanted to make sure we would have everything ready on the day! One can't have a 'Colour Dash' without the colour!

What is included in the ticket price?

Ticket includes entry to the 'Colour Dash' obstacle course, sunglasses, and the pre/post-dash activities which include DJ, bouncy castle, bubble soccer and bucking bull plus much more.

Last year we were given a t-shirt as part of our entry? Why not this year?

Last year was heavily subsidised by grant funding. This year we don't have as much grant funding but we have tried really hard to keep the event affordable for everyone and one way to do this was to make the t-shirt an optional extra.

What time do I need to be there?

You can register from 10am and pick up any merchandise orders at the same time, but please note the event doesn't commence until 230pm. If you don't have any merchandise, or wish to come down later, depending on what 'time' you have allocated, you just need to make sure you arrive at least 30 minutes before your time so have time to register, grab any merchandise and head down to the starting gate. The VIP dash kicks off the event at 2:30pm

Are there any age requirements to enter the event?

The minimum age is 10 years for participants. There is no maximum age, but you will need to decide if you are capable of participating.

What does the 'Dash' involve, like do I have to be fit or something?

The Colour Dash is not a race, so you don't have to be extremely fit to enter. It is an obstacle course that you can complete at your own pace with colour stations. The colour stations are where you will be getting covered in colour, and we'll have a few other sneaky activities which will make sure you go home brightly coloured! There will be a range of obstacles, however if you feel you are not able to tackle any of them, there will be the option to go around the obstacle.

I'm asthmatic, is the dye going to set off my asthma or allergies?

The powder is completely safe (it is coloured cornflour) however we recommend you bring anything you would normally take when participating in physical activity. We don't recommend breathing it in intentionally. We also provide sunnies as part of the registration pack and there will be the option of a dust mask if you are worried.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

We encourage you to walk or ride to the event! There will be places you can leave your bike safely.

There will be limited parking available around the oval - access from Troode Street, and there will be overflow parking at the park on the corner of Ulster Road and Troode Street.

What will be on offer at the event?

There will be lots of food and drink choices so bring along some extra $$ for refreshments. There will also be some fun activities like a bouncy castle, bucking bull etc. Please note this is an alcohol free event. You can purchase up to 3 additional colour sachets if you want to make sure you are well covered in extra powder, or to share with someone who is too young to participate in the event.

How can I contact the event organiser with any questions or queries?

Contact Tammy Flett on 6820 3023, SMS 0427 419 291 or email

Do I have to bring my receipt/ticket to the event?

Yes! This will speed up the registration process.

What if it rains?

Does it matter? You’re getting wet anyway! There will be a water slide…

What do I need to wear?

Closed in shoes (that can get wet). White shirt (Ladies - we recommend you wear a singlet/shirt/bathers underneath your shirt). While the dye is washable we don’t recommend you wear your favourite clothes. I recommend heading to the Op Shop for some cheap clothes.

What if I can’t make the event?

Refunds are available up to 7 days before the event. After this you will not be able to get a refund.

Can I take my pet?

The Colour Dash is an obstacle course, not a walk so it will not be possible to bring your pet along, so please leave them at home.

Can I push my child in their pram in the dash?

No - you will not be able to take the pram through the obstacle course so please make arrangements for someone you know and trust to babysit your child at the event while you are participating or at home.

How long is the event?

The 'dash' is approximately 1200 metres long with 5 colour stations and a number of obstacles. We estimate it will take the average person 15-25 minutes to complete the course, however some people will finish it quicker, others will take longer.

How many times do I get to complete the course?

Only once. We know last year you had the opportunity to go through a second time, but this year we are anticipating bigger numbers and there won't be enough time to go through a second time.

Can I volunteer at the event?

Yes! We will need a number of volunteers on the day, so if you are interested in helping out please contact Tammy Flett on 6820 3023 or email.

Is there showering facilities available at the venue?

Yes there is, but the showers do not have separate stalls so you will need to wear your bathers under your clothes so you can clean up afterwards. Otherwise, bring a garbage bag or old towels to protect the car seats for the journey home. There will be a cleaning station where you can have the loose powder blown off your clothing, and there will be some wipes available to clean your face and hands.

Will the colour wash out of clothing?

The colour powder will wash out of most fabrics however we recommend you wear clothing and shoes that you don't mind if they are stained. Visit your local op shop for clothing if you don't have any suitable.

I want to keep my shirt coloured? Is there a way to preserve the colours?

If you would like to preserve the colour in your running shirt, spray it with vinegar, let it dry and then iron it. But if you wash it the colour eventually will come out.

Is it safe to bring my phone or camera?

The colour powder does drift and there will be water involved so we recommend if you want to take pics as you go then place your phone in a self sealing plastic bag for safe keeping. You won't be able to carry it in your hand though so make sure you have a pocket in your outfit.

Can I take pictures of my family/friends participating in the event?

You will be able to stand track side for some of the course however once the course leaves the oval you will not be able to take photos, as the rest of the course is located on bush trails. We can only have participants and volunteers in this section in case of an emergency.
