The City of Albany will again host an event for World Wetlands Day following the success of its inaugural event last year.

The World Wetlands Day event will be at Lake Seppings on January 24.

World Wetlands Day is in recognition of the Ramsar Convention, an intergovernmental treaty that provides the framework for national action and international cooperation for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources.

This is a free event with a range of displays and activities including information about local turtles, a ‘Meet the Macroinvertebrates’ stall, wet lab, recycled coffee cup planting and much more.

The day will kick off an early bird walk at 8.30am, with participants meeting at the Lake Seppings bird hide.

The World Wetlands Day event has been supported by South Coast NRM, Green Skills, Birdlife Australia and Great Southern Science Council.
