The City of Albany has teamed up with the Keep Albany Beautiful Committee and Cleanaway to encourage our community to take part in this year’s Clean Up Australia Day.

Held on Sunday, March 4, Clean Up Australia Day inspires thousands of Australians to clean up, fix and conserve our environment.

Waste Sustainability Officer Julie Passmore said that Clean Up Australia Day was a fantastic opportunity for community groups and individuals to take responsibility and get rid of rubbish around their neighbourhood or dumped irresponsibly in the local environment.

“Signing up for Clean Up Australia Day is one way for our community to take positive action,” Ms Passmore said.

“Picking up rubbish can help reduce the 8 million tonnes of plastic entering our oceans each year. We can all play a part by simply caring for the environment around us.”

If you would like to take part in Clean Up Australia Day, please contact Annabel Paulley on 6820 3944 or email staff@albany.wa.gov.au.

Community groups and individuals who register through the City of Albany will receive bags and gloves for their clean up, as well as have their bags of litter and recyclables collected after their event.
