The City of Albany is continuing its support of WALGA’s RoadWise by participating in the 2017 Shine the Light on Road Safety campaign.

Town Square is lit up in yellow this week in support of the campaign which aims to raise awareness of road safety, prevent deaths and injuries on our roads and raise funds to support those impacted by trauma. The campaign coincides with the Fourth United Nations Global Road Safety Week which runs from May 8 to 14.

Albany Mayor Dennis Wellington said supporting the Shine the Light on Road Safety campaign was another way for the City of Albany to raise awareness on local road safety issues.

“Albany Town Hall and Town Square will be lit up as part of the campaign, the Town Hall is an iconic building for Albany and is passed by hundreds of motorists each day,” Mayor Wellington said.

“We hope that by lighting up the CBD and promoting our support of the campaign we can keep road trauma and its wider impact on our local community at the forefront of people’s minds.”
