Albany residents can expect an exciting year of events in 2018 after Council endorsed agreements with Racewars and the Albany Car Classic at their meeting last night.

In addition to the agreements, the City of Albany’s Regional Events Sponsorship was also finalised with seven out of thirteen applications to receive funding in 2018.

Albany Mayor Dennis Wellington said the City was proud to be supporting regional events that contribute to a wide range of social and economic benefits.

“Events such as the Albany Car Classic and Racewars are what make our region unique and we’re excited to be able to continue our support of these events into the new year,” Mayor Wellington said.

"The City of Albany has more than 70 events confirmed for 2018, including the Queen’s Baton Relay in the lead up to the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Southern MTB, Vancouver Street Festival and other community events.”

“We believe in supporting and encouraging our community to deliver events that connect and promote our region.”
