The City of Albany has twelve (12) councillors elected from six (6) wards and a popularly elected Mayor, who are elected by the community for four year terms. Councillor elections take place every two years and the Mayoral election every four.

While Councillors represent their wards, together with the Mayor and City staff, they have a responsibility to the whole of the City of Albany. Council make decisions about strategy, policy and budget priorities.

Dennis Wellington has 16 years experience in Local Government and is passionate about the Albany community and leading it into a sustainable and prosperous future.

He was first elected to Council in May 2001 and spent four years as Deputy Mayor of the City of Albany before being elected to Mayor in 2011.

Dennis has been a strong leader for Albany, playing a key role in building a strong culture that has delivered some amazing results for the community and region.

Councillor Paul Terry was elected to Council in 2015. Paul is committed to the local community and the region and believes in participating in the community and giving back. 

Paul works in the financial services industry and is an active member within the Albany community, having coached junior soccer, sat on the board of the Princess Royal Sailing Club and served on the Executive Committee for the Albany Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Deputy Mayor Greg Stocks was first elected to Council in 2011. He was appointed Deputy Mayor in October 2013, and appointed again in 2015. 

Greg is a local business owner and is passionate about his community.

Councillor Price was raised in Perth and moved to Albany in 1999 to start a family beef cattle farming operation. In 2005 she took up studies at UWA Albany, graduating in 2012. In 2002 Janelle commenced work at Regional Development Australia and is now the Executive Officer, using her skills to drive inclusion and government policy innovation. 

Janelle enjoys the challenges of Local Government and considers it an honours to be able to work for her community.

Councillor Bill Hollingworth has lived and farmed in the South Coast region for most of his life. He was a Shire of Plantagenet Councillor from 2005 to 2009 and has served on Albany Council since 2014.

Bill is actively involved in several community groups and is an active member of South Coast Natural Resource Management and is currently serving as Chairman of the Board.

Councillor Nicolette Mulcahy was born in Tasmania and has lived in Albany for over 18 years. She was first elected to Albany Council in 2007 and was re-elected in 2013. 

Nicolette is passionate about increasing employment opportunities within the region and believes in improving and motivating small business.

Councillor Alison Goode was elected in 1995 with the former Shire of Albany. Alison was the second woman to be elected in the history of the Shire, she then went on to become Deputy Shire President, then acting Shire President. Following the amalgamation, Alison was elected as the inaugural Mayor of the City of Albany and served for over 8 years as Mayor. 

Alison was born in Albany and graduated from Edith Cowan University with a Bachelor in Social Science. She enjoys making a difference in her community.

Councillor Sandie Smith grew up in Albany. Prior to starting her family, she had a background in finance which exposed her to the complexities of regional business, finance, insurance and risk. Sandie continues to work part time while raising her children. 

Sandie thoroughly enjoys being an elected member and working to achieve the best outcomes for the residents of Albany.

Councillor Anthony Moir has an extensive retail background. He was first elected to Council in 2015 and is thoroughly enjoying being an elected member.
